In this module you will investigate the absorption profile of rubidium. You will send the laser beam from an ECDL through a glass cell that contains rubidium gas at room temperature. By recording and fitting the absorption profile using Python, you will be able to extract the temperature of the gas, and learn about the fine- and hyperfine-structure of rubidium. Understanding these quantum mechanical properties of rubidium prepares you well for the ultracold research in the Kleinert lab. (12 hour lab)
