Alexandra Opie's artwork engages a central interest in image types and their ways of recording and presenting visual phenomena. Opie works primarily in wet collodion photography. She builds cameras and tinkers with perspective to grapple with questions driven by the intersection of past photography and current visual culture.
Alexandra Opie received a BA from Southern Oregon University in 1997 and an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 2000. Her artwork has been shown in museum and experimental spaces in Boston, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, St. Louis, San Francisco, and New York.
