U.S. News and World Report names WU on ‘best college’ list

by Marketing and Communications,

Willamette University is among the best arts and science institutions in the nation for 2022-23, according to .

For the fourth consecutive year, the university is one of the top three liberal arts colleges in the Pacific Northwest — and the first or second-highest rated institution in Oregon — on the “Best Colleges” list. The university received an overall national ranking of 76.

Willamette ranked second on the list of four Oregon institutions recognized for “social mobility,” considered among nearly 200 liberal arts colleges nationwide that reported strong graduation rates of Pell Grant recipients. The university’s ranking of No. 70 improved from the previous year.

Recognized for its high-quality education and low cost, Willamette was also one of two Oregon institutions on the “Best Value” list, rising five spots from last year to No. 88. This is the second year in a row the university has advanced in this category, which factors in the percentage of scholarships and grants students receive.

U.S. News and World Report evaluates schools on factors including graduation and retention rates, faculty and peer assessment surveys. This year, the magazine’s methodology reflects data from fall 2021 and earlier.
